New Development

In recent years, dozens of national retailers have opened new stores in Grand Rapids and neighboring suburbs. The growth continues with Bed Bath & Beyond, Famous Daves and Costco adding new stores in the area in 2005.

RESTAURANTS — The advancing taste of the market is evidenced by robust growth in the restaurant sector. New establishments include: Macaroni Grill, Johnny Carinos, Boston Grill,
IHOP, Famous Dave (opening 2005). In addition, locally owned restaurateurs have expanded their services with eclectic new enterprises popping up in both urban and suburban corridors.

National home centers, discounters, sports, electronic and department stores are opening new stores in Grand Rapids in response to the population, employment and income growth here.
